KEDA Launches Batik RONALOKA, Showcasing the Unique Clay-Based Batik of Kedah

KEDA LANCAR BATIK RONALOKA TONJOL KEUNIKAN BATIK TANAH LIAT KEDAH

PENDANG – The Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) continues to empower rural women entrepreneurs through the launch of *Batik RONALOKA*, which highlights the uniqueness of clay-based batik from the state.

This initiative is seen as a new approach in the local batik industry, which is typically synonymous with Terengganu, and proves that Kedah is also capable of producing batik with its own distinct identity.

The launch ceremony was officiated by the Representative of the Advisor for KEDA Parliamentary Programs and Activities for Pendang, Mr. Mohamad Fadzil bin Zolkipli.

Also present were KEDA Deputy General Manager (Operations), Mr. Khairul Azmeer bin Abu Bakar; Director of TVET MARA Alor Setar, Mr. Ku Madzly bin Ku Yahya; Deputy Director of GIATMARA Kedah, Mr. Aman Redza bin Radzi; and KEDA Entrepreneur Development Manager, Mr. Mohd Ariff bin Mohd Rodzi.

The launch of Batik RONALOKA is part of the implementation of the Women Biz Entrepreneurship Program in the KEDA region, which provides opportunities for rural women to venture into entrepreneurship as a sustainable source of income.

The program involves three women entrepreneurs producing batik using clay elements as the main material, showcasing the uniqueness of Kedah’s local art and heritage.

Through this program, participants receive comprehensive support, including the provision of machinery and equipment, premises upgrading, as well as entrepreneurial guidance and marketing promotion, with a total allocation of RM200,000.

In addition, a group-based approach is applied to help the target group manage their businesses more systematically and competitively, ultimately nurturing women entrepreneurs who are capable of becoming successful business owners.

Among the main objectives of this program are to improve the local economy through women’s participation in entrepreneurship, provide knowledge and modern marketing techniques, and strengthen rural product industries to penetrate wider markets.

This effort aligns with KEDA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening rural community development, particularly in producing more competitive and innovative women entrepreneurs.
