The two-day demonstration, held on 31 July and 1 August 2026, took place from 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Throughout the programme, Kolej KEDA showcased the preparation of various traditional Kedah dishes, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the state’s rich culinary heritage.

On the final day of the demonstration, visitors had the opportunity to witness the preparation of serabai with durian gravy, one of the traditional delicacies associated with Kedah’s culinary heritage.

At the same time, visitors also had the opportunity to visit the KEDA entrepreneurs’ booths, which featured a wide range of local products, including food and beverages, health and wellness products, handicrafts, as well as creative products developed by local entrepreneurs.

Among the participating KEDA entrepreneurs were Sumber Segar Enterprise, offering dairy products; Setehsen Global Sdn. Bhd., featuring tea products; Addil World Enterprise, offering health beverages; Deqaira Global, which offers wellness products such as balms and clove oil; and NFF Fabulous Food (Lekoshow SP), offering keropok lekor and prawn noodles.

CHAMPION DISHES SERVED AT BALING ESCAPADE FESTIVAL 2026

BALING – The Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) continued to strengthen its role in driving rural socio-economic development by participating in the Baling Escapade Festival 2026 and The Magnificent Baling 100, held in the heart of Baling town.

Through Kolej KEDA, KEDA organised a traditional Kedah heritage cooking demonstration featuring two distinctive local dishes, namely Kerabu Pais Ikan and Ubi Kayu Cicah Nyoq.

Adding to the significance of the demonstration, both traditional dishes had previously been recognised as champion dishes and awarded gold medals at the World Chefs Championship, highlighting the uniqueness and quality of Kedah’s culinary heritage and its potential to be showcased at a higher level.

The cooking demonstration was conducted by Cikgu Siti Fatimah binti Abdul Karim, Cikgu Najah Salam binti Ibrahim and Cikgu Farhana binti Md Yusof, who are instructors for the Food Technology Course at Kolej KEDA. The three instructors have an impressive track record, having previously emerged as champions and won gold medals at the World Chefs Championship.

Also present to witness the cooking demonstration were KEDA General Manager, YBhg. Puan Hajah Afifah binti Haji Omar; Manager of Entrepreneur Development, Encik Mohd Ariff bin Mohd Rodzi; Manager of Management Services, Cik Suhaila binti Hamzah; and KEDA Development Officer for Zone 5 Baling, Encik Mohamad Nasri bin Ahmad Shukri.

The demonstration successfully attracted the attention of visitors. Interestingly, a visitor from Manjung, Perak, had the opportunity to taste the dishes prepared during the session. The dishes received positive feedback, with the visitor describing them as delicious, unique and distinctive in flavour.

During the event, the KEDA General Manager also presented tokens of appreciation to lucky visitors who took the time to attend and witness the cooking demonstration.

She also took the opportunity to visit ten booths operated by KEDA-supported entrepreneurs participating in the Baling Escapade Festival 2026, providing encouragement and support to local entrepreneurs in their efforts to promote and market their products to visitors.

KEDA’s participation in the event not only showcased the uniqueness of Kedah’s culinary heritage but also provided a platform to highlight the expertise of Kolej KEDA’s instructors while creating promotional opportunities for KEDA-supported entrepreneurs, in line with KEDA’s aspiration to continue empowering and improving the well-being of rural communities.

KEDA STRENGTHENS THE PREPARATION OF THE KKDW 2026 OUTCOME EVALUATION STUDY REPORT

KLANG – The Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) continues to strengthen its commitment to ensuring that the preparation of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) 2026 Outcome Evaluation Study Report is carried out in a high-quality, comprehensive and impactful manner.

In this regard, the Kick-Off Workshop for the Preparation of the KKDW 2026 Outcome Evaluation Study Report was held over three days, from 29 to 31 July 2026, at Wyndham Acmar, Klang.

The workshop involved collaboration between Kolej KEDA and the Entrepreneur Development Division (BPU) of KEDA to streamline the preparation of the study report, while ensuring that information, programme achievements and impacts are systematically and comprehensively documented.

The implementation of the Outcome Evaluation Study (KPO) is in line with General Circular No. 1 of 2012: Guidelines for Measuring the Achievement of Development Programmes/Projects through Outcome Evaluation, which aims to measure the achievement and effectiveness of development programmes or projects that have been implemented.

The workshop, organised by the Coordination and Monitoring Division (PP) as the main secretariat of the KKDW Outcome Evaluation Study Committee (JKPO), also provided participants with exposure to the procedures for conducting KPO, while enhancing their understanding and knowledge in preparing high-quality outcome evaluation reports.

Through this workshop, the Kolej KEDA Team and BPU KEDA Team will continue their collaboration and commitment towards producing a high-quality, comprehensive and evidence-based 2026 Outcome Evaluation Report.

This effort is important to ensure that every development programme and project implemented by KEDA is assessed based on its achievements, outcomes and impact on the target groups.

A systematic evaluation process will also support KEDA’s efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of service delivery and ensure that every development initiative undertaken continues to create meaningful value and benefits for rural communities.
